Our barcode generator supports seven industry-standard formats: CODE128 (general purpose, alphanumeric), EAN-13 (retail products), UPC (universal product codes), CODE39 (industrial, military), ITF-14 (shipping containers), MSI (inventory management), and Pharmacode (pharmaceutical products). Each format has specific use cases and encoding requirements.
To generate a barcode: 1) Enter your text or numbers in the content field, 2) Select your desired barcode format from the dropdown menu, 3) Customize the appearance using width, height, color, and text display options, 4) Preview your barcode in real-time, 5) Click 'Download Barcode' to save it as a PNG image file.
Choose CODE128 for general alphanumeric data, EAN-13 or UPC for retail products (requires 12-13 digit numbers), CODE39 for industrial or government applications, ITF-14 for shipping and logistics (14 digits), MSI for inventory and warehouse management, or Pharmacode for pharmaceutical packaging. The format depends on your industry standards and scanning requirements.
Yes! You can fully customize your barcode: adjust the width (1-4 scale), set the height (50-200px), change the line color and background color to any value, toggle text display on or off, and customize font size for the text. Make sure to maintain sufficient contrast between line and background colors for reliable scanning.
Barcodes are downloaded as PNG (Portable Network Graphics) images with transparent or custom backgrounds. PNG format ensures high quality, supports transparency, and works perfectly for both digital use and printing. The resolution is optimized for clear scanning at various sizes.
EAN-13 and UPC are similar but different. UPC (Universal Product Code) uses 12 digits and is primarily used in North America. EAN-13 (European Article Number) uses 13 digits and is the international standard. EAN-13 can encode UPC codes by adding a leading zero. Most modern scanners read both formats.
Yes, you can generate and use barcodes for commercial purposes. However, for retail products requiring UPC or EAN codes, you must obtain official GS1 company prefixes and product numbers from GS1 (the global standards organization). For internal use, inventory, and non-retail applications, you can use any codes you generate.
